"Chiltern are delighted to have signed a three year partnership deal with Tennis Wales which will include a new Tier 1 LTA Tournament played on the Lano Grand Clay courts at Windsor Penarth club in May next year".
Windsor Lawn Tennis Club, Penarth, South Wales
We are a medium sized tennis club with 8 courts and approximately 450 members. In 2015 we determined that 4 of our tarmacadam courts were in need in repair / resurfacing. We applied to the LTA for a Loan and they advised that we should receive quotations from 3 reputable companies. We googled the SAPCA website and came across The Chiltern Group and two others all of whom came to visit us with a view to providing quotations. I was joined in these presentations by our Treasurer and Chairman. It was immediately apparent to us that The Chiltern Group were a cut above the rest. They discussed with us the various options and costs of different surfaces and their suitability to our needs as a growing club. They were knowledgeable, professional, helpful and I have to say, patient to our initial indecisions. Back up calls for additional advice were always dealt with quickly and helpfully. We came to the conclusion that Lano Grand Clay (artificial clay) was the “best” surface available and we asked the three companies to tender for this surface. Whilst the tender prices from all three contractors were roughly comparable and indeed some others offered attractive “incentives” if we chose them, we were collectively of the opinion that we should choose the best company for the job and we were unanimous in deciding that The Chiltern Group were head and shoulders above the rest.
The courts were laid in March 2016. The Chiltern Group turned up when they said they would, they caused minimal disruption to the activities at the club and were clean, efficient and professional in their workings. Since the courts have been laid the only problem we have had is that they are so popular that none of our members now want to play on our other 4 tarmacadam courts. Our team of coaches say that bookings are up. Our on-line court booking system has recorded that useage is up and indeed we have now become the envy of a number of other local clubs in our area who are coming to test play on our courts with a view to introducing them at their clubs.
I cannot recommend The Chiltern Group highly enough. I would suggest that investing in new courts is a considerable capital investment and if you are contemplating such an investment you should choose the “best company for the job”. I am convinced that The Chiltern Group are the best.
If you would like any further information or indeed would like to come and test play on our courts I would be delighted to hear from you
